Retort Packaging
1. What materials are typically used to manufacture retort pouches?
Retort pouches typically use multilayer structures combining PET, high-barrier PET, aluminum foil, OPA, and retort-grade PP. Each layer provides specific properties, including printability, barrier protection, mechanical strength, and sealing performance.
2. What retort pouch structures can Tadbik offer?
Tadbik offers aluminum-foil and PET-based high-barrier retort structures, tailored to the product, processing conditions, required shelf life, and filling equipment.
3. How does Tadbik select the optimal retort pouch structure?
The optimal structure depends on the product, barrier and shelf-life requirements, filling conditions, retort process, and mechanical requirements. Tadbik evaluates these parameters to recommend the most suitable solution.
4. Why are retort pouches made from laminated multilayer structures rather than a single film?
Lamination combines properties that a single material usually cannot provide: printability, barrier performance, mechanical and puncture resistance, dimensional stability and reliable heat sealing.
5. Flexo or rotogravure printing – which is better for retort pouches and retort lidding films?
Both technologies can deliver excellent print quality.
The optimal choice depends on the artwork complexity, number of colors, and special graphic requirements.
For retort applications, needed special retort-resistant inks: reverse-printed and encapsulated between the laminated film layers.
6. How are retort pouches tested before commercial production?
Depending on the application, validation may include dimensional, print and color checks, laminate bond and seal-strength testing, barrier testing, retort trials and package-integrity evaluation.
7. What information does Tadbik need for giving a quotation for a new retort pouch or for lidding film suitable for retort ?
We typically need the product description& ingredients , pouch(tray) dimensions, fill weight, filling and sealing conditions, retort parameters, required shelf life, barrier requirements, filling and sealing equipment data, expected volumes per SKU , annual & monthly forecast .
8. Why is it important to check if the product contains staining ingredients when selecting a retort pouch structure?
Some ingredients, such as tomato-based sauces, spices, oils, and strongly colored products, can stain or discolor the inner layers of a pouch during retort and storage. Identifying these ingredients in advance allows Tadbik to select an appropriate stain-resistant structure, helping maintain the package’s appearance throughout its shelf life.
9. Lock seal or peelable seal – what option to choose for a retort tray?
It depends on the application.
- lock seal provides maximum seal security, particularly valuable for demanding handling and logistics conditions
- peelable seal maintains reliable retort integrity while offering easier opening for the consumer.
10. What is the difference between conventional and mono-material retort pouch structures?
Conventional retort pouches combine materials such as PET, aluminum foil, OPA, and PP to achieve the required barrier, strength, and retort performance.
Mono-material solutions are based on PP, using barrier technologies such as coated BOPP or EVOH-based coextruded films. Each approach offers different benefits in barrier, retort resistance, sealing, processing, and recyclability.
RFID & Ambient IoT
1. What are the main components of a BLE Ambient IoT solution?
A typical solution includes smart labels with BLE-enabled sensors, gateway infrastructure, cloud-based data processing, and a platform that turns the collected data into actionable insights.
2. Can the infrastructure be installed on mobile equipment?
Yes. Depending on the use case, gateways can be installed in fixed locations such as warehouses and distribution centers, or on mobile assets such as forklifts and vehicles.
3. What is the difference between RFID and BLE Ambient IoT?
RFID is typically used to identify and track items at specific scanning points. BLE Ambient IoT can provide continuous or event-based visibility and sensor data across the supply chain, using existing or dedicated Bluetooth infrastructure.
4. Should we implement RFID or Ambient IoT?
It depends on your operational needs, environment, required data, infrastructure, and budget. Tadbik evaluates each use case and recommends the most suitable technology-or a combination of both.
5. Does Tadbik provide all components of the solution?

6. When should BLE Ambient IoT smart labels be used instead of active beacons?
